    This page showcases some of the custom ordered pottery from The Color of Mud. As you can see there is a wide range of things I have done. Most if not all of these were the ideas of a client and turned into a work of usable art. Some ideas had to be worked out as to how to do them and changed slightly to fit the piece. Prices range depending on the amount of detail and work hours. Each custom-made pottery piece starts by being hand pulled on the pottery wheel. Then your idea is hand sculpted and added to the piece. With a highly detailed piece it is not uncommon for 10+ hours to be spent sculpting your idea. Once the entire piece is together it is allowed to dry for 2 weeks before it is fired for the first time then glazed and fired a second time. Each piece is fire to stoneware temperatures to give it maximum strength and chip resistance. Properly cared for your piece will last a lifetime of use.
